Misty's Moments
Stories
Some of Misty's Favorite Treats to eat.
Over the years, we’ve tried a wide variety of treats, gradually building up quite the collection as we figured out what works best. Out of everything we’ve offered, Misty has made his preference very clear—his absolute favorite is Temptations Chicken Flavored Bites. There’s just something about them that he can’t resist. The moment he hears the bag crinkle, he comes running, completely focused and ready to do just about anything for a taste. Whether it’s showing off tricks or just giving his best hopeful stare, he definitely knows what he wants.
That said, we’ve also made an effort to explore some other options to keep things balanced. The Blue Buffalo treats have been a great addition, offering a different flavor and ingredient profile that we feel good about giving him. In addition, the healthier varieties of Temptations snacks have been a nice compromise—they still have that flavor Misty loves, but with a bit more nutritional value.
Overall, it’s been a bit of trial and error, but it’s clear that Misty knows exactly what he likes. While we enjoy giving him a mix of treats, those chicken-flavored Temptations will always be his top choice, and he never lets us forget it.
Misty's favorite toys
Since Misty was just a tiny kitten, he’s always had an incredible amount of energy and a strong love for playtime. From the moment he wakes up, he’s ready to go—following us around, bringing toys over, and doing everything he can to get our attention. If it were up to him, we’d be playing together every second he’s awake. Of course, that’s not always possible, but over time we’ve learned what keeps him the happiest and most entertained, even when we’re busy.
Through a lot of trial and error, we’ve discovered that Misty definitely has a “type” when it comes to toys. His absolute favorites are the ones that look and feel like real animals—soft, textured, and realistic enough to trigger his natural hunting instincts. He loves to stalk, pounce, and carry them around like little trophies. However, we’ve found that toys with built-in sounds are not a good match for him. The unexpected noises tend to startle him more than excite him, and they can quickly become more irritating than fun—for both Misty and us.
Interestingly, some of his favorite playthings are also the simplest. A plain piece of string or a basic wand toy can keep him entertained for surprisingly long stretches of time. There’s something about the unpredictable movement that really grabs his attention and gets him fully engaged. It’s also a great reminder that we don’t need to spend money on expensive, high-tech toys to keep him happy. Simple, low-cost options can be just as effective—if not more so—and if they wear out or break, it’s no big deal to replace them.
Overall, keeping Misty entertained is all about understanding his personality and preferences. A mix of realistic plush toys and simple interactive items has worked best for us, giving him both the stimulation he craves and the exercise he needs. Even though we can’t always keep up with his endless desire to play, having the right toys on hand makes a big difference in keeping him content and engaged.
Misty's first vet visit
On April 18, 2026, Misty had his very first visit to the vet—an experience that was memorable for all of us. The trip to Protect The Pets Vet Clinic started off a bit rough, as Misty spent most of the car ride meowing nonstop. It was clear he was feeling stressed and uneasy, as if he somehow sensed what was coming.
When we arrived, we were brought into a small exam room that showed a bit of wear and tear—nothing serious, just some minor cosmetic damage. We placed Misty’s carrier down and tried to comfort him while we waited. Before long, Dr. Rob came in and gently took Misty out to begin the checkup. He weighed him first, then carried him to the back room for a blood test.
When Misty returned, he was sitting in a noticeably awkward position, which immediately caught our attention. Dr. Rob explained that Misty was a bit “chunky,” which made it difficult to collect a urine sample, and added that Misty probably wouldn’t have appreciated the attempt anyway. It was a slightly humorous moment, even if we were still a bit concerned.
Once we got home and opened the carrier, we noticed something wasn’t quite right—Misty couldn’t stand properly at first. It was a worrying sight, but thankfully, after a little time to settle down and recover from the stress of the visit, he began to return to normal. Despite the rocky experience, it marked an important milestone in Misty’s life, and we’re hopeful that future vet visits will be a little less eventful for everyone involved.
